8:13AM - Nano
It's that time of the year again folks! Joy, and I'm nearly 5 days behind already :( Stupid assignments getting in the way of Nano!
This year I am attempting a LONG Kyou Kara Maou fic, because I don't have time to create characters or settings so I'll just yoink someone elses for a while :P. I am planning on some severe Wolfram torture :) Mahahahahahaha *evil laugh* I currently have him paired up with an OC and I may put Yuuri with Conrad to begin with, but we shall see how things end up. Well, even if everyone else has a crap time Gwendal (who I LOVE) and Gunter will be fine, they will always have each other :P:P (and Gwendal's kitty).
Righty, gotta go to bed/write a lesson plan for tomorrow. God I'm shattered!!!

7:33PM - Cambridge
Well, i'm in Cambridge, having a pretty good time at the Uni. The PGCE is a lot of hard work, 9-5 most days for 16 weeks in faculty and then 16 weeks in schools, with lessons to plan and deliver and all sorts. I'm absolutely shattered.
Going into London tomorrow with Laura to go to a careers fair in Islington to find out more about working for VSO and various other charities, it looks awsome.
I've just spent the last week working with year two and I'm shattered! They are so energetic, but absolutely lovely kids! Quite a lot of hard work tho. We had 50% english as a second language, and two traveller children who spend so little time in school that they can barely read and write. They are so sweet though so I've spent quite a lot of time working with them to help them. I'm thinking of possibly doing the traveller support qualification that's on offer for TAs, or something similar if there is such a thing for teachers, because they are such lovely children and need so much support because they don't get any at home, and only access learning in schools. Also girls rarely go to high school so what they learn in primary school is all they will learn.
back in the faculty next week which will be interesting to see how everyone got on in their placements.
Going to the gym now!

2:55PM - Jersey
Well, here I am in Jersey and I'm having a great time. I've been working at the Durell Wildlife Conservation Trust in their education unit and am enjoying almost every minute of it, I'm not so keen on complaints :P. Dealing with the public is a bit of a chore at times, but generally it's really fun, the kids are great and I have been working long after closing time almost every day, which just shows how good it is!.
I'm quite excited about this week because I am going to be giving my first animal talk, about tamarins and habitat fragmentation, which is a morning talk, so hopefully there wont be so many people there. Then I've got to learn about Gorillas so that I can give the gorilla talk, possibly in a week or so. While i've been here I've also been having riding lessons to get some practise in before I start at Cambs in September (I'm so excited about that!) and I'm comming off the lunge next time which will be good. My horse is calle Thomas (his friend is Jerry.... ) and he apparently doesn't always "listen to the leg" so he could be a bit of a challenge.
On another note, I saw a red squirrel yesterday which made me happy.
I'm heading into the zoo this afternoon to take some pictures for a display, so hopefully the sun will stay out a little longer!

8:03AM - BSc Hons 2:1
well, the subject says it all really. I got a 2:1, which is good I guess. It gets me into Cambidge for next year, the irritating thig is I know I could have got a 1st if I hadn't had to do Biostat last year and Plants this year. It upsets me a little as all my other grades were just 2 or 3 marks off a first. But hey, who cares, I'm going to Cambridge University :):):):).
I have decided to join their Polo club, not that I can play polo (or even ride that well) but because I think it is suitable pretentious for something to do at the Uni of Cambs.
Aaannyway, I'm off to watch Kyou Kara maou, my new love. I still havent found anywhere that has all 78 eps :( I keep finding new ones, which makes me happy!

2:27AM - Kids
I've been working in a Primary school the last couple of weeks and loving it, however the kids are absolutely exhausting!!.
Seriously, today it rained so they didn't go out to play, this made them edgy and wound up to the point at which they were a nightmare.
Plus that I hate working with key stage 1 anyway. I like the 7-11 year olds better than 4-7!! How many ways can you explain that 2 + 2 is 4? AAAAAAAAAAARRrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggg!!
The one thing i really don't understand is some children's complete lack of motivation. One little boy refused point bank to do anything. He wont even tick boxes on a questionnaire? Exactly what he thinks high school is going to be like I don't know, but I feel like some kind of fortune teller seeing vast quantities of detention on the horizon for him :P.
Overall the 2 weeks I've just done have been really good. Most of the kids are lovely and even some of the naughtier ones are very eager, they just call out a lot because they desperately want to show the teacher that they can do it. There does seem to be a severe lack in ability to express themselves on paper, which I think is a shame, as without the ability to write fluently and enjoy writing they will struggle in later years when they have to write essays and assignments at high school, or just further up the schools. Hand writing and spelling, even with literacy hour, seem to be suffering from the sheer weight of subjects they have to learn, and the children are growing to dislike them, seeing them as a chore, rather than something usefull or enjoyable.
Aaaanyway, rant over, I guess not everyone is good at or enjoys writing, I will just have to work on getting the kids involved and excited when I am teaching them.
Hmmmm, seems like a challenge if this lot are anything to go by.
I have to pack, I'm off to Newquay on Monday with the girlies. I can't wait, I'm so excited, Heather, Laura, me, Emily, Christine and a random in a caravan for a week! Gonna be hillarious! Much like a beachside freshers week! I hope it doesn't rain!

11:24AM - bored!
it's 2:30 am and I should be revising, but I nabbed this off jess blue_emotioninstead :P. Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks.
1. Ok, the big one first I guess.... I'm adopted, and have no interest in finding the woman who gave birth to me (which some people think is weird). 2. I love art and have a collection of original and/or unusual objects and paintings which I adore. 3. I hate the idea of pregnancy, but fantasize about having at least 4 children :O (yea, go figure... maybe I could do an Angelina Joli?) 4. I leave my keys in inappropriate places and frequently have to enlist help to find them (the shower, my make-up bag... etc). 5. I talk alot in company, but enjoy silence and at Uni can go for days without speaking 6. I HATE ticking clocks and dripping taps, they drive me MAD!! 7. I'm easiy scared, from TV shows like the x-files, to supernatural and Buffy right through to walking around my house at night, even when I know my parents are in 8. I like to bake when I'm bored, I'm particularly good at scones :) 9. I sleep far more than I think I should and occasionally this concerns me..... then I go back to sleep :P:P:P 10. I don't feel comfortable expressing emotions with people and prefer to use fiction, music or art as an outlet

9:28PM - Pan's Labyrinth
OMG, that was such an awsome movie!!
Kyran and I went to see Pan's Labyrinth tonight and it is SO good!! Seriously! It's a spanish language film, subtitled (admittedly a bit dodgey here and there) into English.
The story of the movie is really good. The graphics suprisingly smooth and the characters believable (although I found the Captain a little overly evil). I thoroughly enjoyed the film itself as you can never quite work out whether the fantasy bits are delusions or real.
The sets are beautiful and the background of the Spanish civil war adds an adult element into what could have been a mediocre children's fantasy movie.
I loved the faun! You're never quite sure whether he is evil or good, and the faries are weird!
Anyway, I had a good night and am currently working on my assignment for monday
I can't believe Uni is nearly over *cries*
Oh well :(

3:05AM - Scally Scumbags!
I went out last night was was having an awsome time until some scally jumped us on the way to the taxi rank and punched me in the face before proceeding to run off with my handbag. Fortunately the police drove round the corner just as it happened and a lovely policeman got my bag back (the strap is broken and the retarded scally dropped it after makking off with £20 but fortunately nothing else. So after that we were asked if we wanted to give statements or anything, but the guy just looked like every other scally and cos i'd got my bag back we weren't really bothered, so the nice police lady drove us to the hospital where I had to get stitches in my chin and now my whole jaw hurts :(
Well at least all that was lost was a bit of pride and £20, i've still got my key and cards and stuff.
Damned scallies!!

6:07AM - Happy
Just a quick "happy" note as I got 80% on one of my pieces of coursework for Biodiversity and Conservation. That's my best mark EVER at Uni. Therefore I am a smiley happy bunny!!
I'm so stressed out about the grades for my dissertation and getting it back that I am going to HAVE to buy myself some kind of herbal calming thing, and if that doesn't work go to the doctor for something. I'm sleepin about 3 hours a night because I'm so nervous about it and I'm exhausted, which obviously isn't good for all the rest of my coursework!! Hopefully I'll be able to sort myself out but I'm making myself ill and I know it, so I really need to do something. I'm gonna be exactly the same after the finals it's going to be horrific!
Hmmmm, anyway. I'm off to participate in the "Grizedale Centurian Challenge" at 9 tonight. 100 shots in 100 minutes :)
Wish me luck!!

5:13AM - Update time!!
Right, I haven't updated for a while, so here's my life condensed!!
January 8th to 12th I took part in the SAS scheme, where I work in a school, teaching science (chemistry of all things, Laughs a LOT!) to mostly year 8 students and get paid for it (the governement are SUCKERS) which is good. We had a form called 8L and the kids were fantastic. Although the school views them as a problem form we got along with them really well. They have a bit more personality than some of the other forms and I thoroughly enjoyed teaching them.
Aaaanyway, after that I dashed home again beacause on January 15th I went to Cambridge University for an Interview to do a PGCE.
Then I scurried back to Lancaster again to start my lectures again. JOY *sarcasm - cough - sarcasm*
My Gran died on 27th January ( I think) and the funeral was 1st February, which was very sad, but kind of a relief in some ways as she had been getting ill and frail as well as having dementia, so it was good that she died in the home and didn't have to go into a hospital or anything which would have just upset and scared her.
On the day Gran died I also heard back from Cambridge that I had been offered a place, which I rapidly accepted :P:P
I have spent the last week writing my dissertation and I am SICK OF IT!! It is doing my head in!!!!!!! I have also been filling in hundreds of forms for Cambridge and CRB checks and the such which has almost fused my brain! Those are all done now, so it's back to the dissertation again!!
I need to buy Heather's 21st Birthday present!!
On another note here's a little something I threw together last night!
